Brock Faber answered Yanni Gourde’s empty-netter with 1:46 left by scoring for the Wild on a 6-on-4 power play with 1:05 left and goalie Marc-Andre Fleury pulled. Kraken goalie Joey Daccord and the defense held up. Kirill Kaprizov scored his 46th goal for the Wild to finish with 96 points for the second-most in club history.

The University of Missouri is planning a $250 million renovation of Memorial Stadium. The project is expected to be completed by the 2026 season. It will further enclose the north end of the stadium and add a variety of new premium seating options. The field-level Bunker Club in the south end zone will be converted to a team recruiting center, with upgrades to restrooms, concessions and the sound system among other changes. The university’s Board of Curators unanimously approved the hiring of Kansas City architecture firm DLR Group on Wednesday to handle the project.

Arizona State starting quarterback Jaden Rashada is entering the transfer portal. Rashada announced his decision on the social platform X and thanked coach Kenny Dillingham and his staff. Rashada earned the starting job out of training camp as a freshman, but missed nine games with a knee injury before returning for the season finale against rival Arizona. He threw for 485 yards and four touchdowns with three interceptions on 44-of-82 passing in three games. Rashada initially committed to Miami before decommitting to play at Florida. He later asked to get out of an NIL deal and transferred to Arizona State.

The NHL team moving from Arizona to Salt Lake City will be known as Utah, at least initially. New owner Ryan Smith says the name will begin with Utah and he does not want to rush the process of rebranding the franchise upon relocation. The league's board of governors unanimously approved the sale of the team to Smith Entertainment Group on Thursday. Smith has already contracted with an agency to oversee the process of determining a team name and logo. Former owner Alex Meruelo keeps the Coyotes name and has the chance to reactivate the franchise if he's able to build an arena.

An unfair labor complaint has been filed against the University of Notre Dame for classifying college athletes as “student-athletes.” The complaint was filed Thursday with the National Labor Relations Board by a California-based group calling itself the College Basketball Players Association. It said Notre Dame is engaging in unfair labor practices as defined by the National Labor Relations Act. The complaint is similar to one filed against University of Southern California last May by the NLRB’s Los Angeles office. Notre Dame cited its Statement for Principles for Intercollegiate Athletics in responding to a request for comment on the complaint, saying athletics is “an integrated participant in and contributor to the University’s education mission.”

Archie Cooley, the innovative longtime Black college football coach whose offense helped Jerry Rice become a record-breaking receiver at Mississippi Valley State, has died. Cooley's family announced his death through the school, but provided no details. He was 84. Nicknamed “Gunslinger” for his passion for the passing game, Cooley spent more than 25 years as a head coach at four HBCUs and went 83-78-5. The Mississippi native played at Jackson State in the Southwestern Athletic Conference in the early 1960s. His 1984 Mississippi Valley State team with Rice set dozens of NCAA records, including averaging 60.9 points per game.
